The OptimizedWood project arose from the desire to create innovative products focused on sustainability and the optimum use of forest resources in areas that traditionally have a high environmental impact, such as construction.

The University of Coimbra has a team with extensive experience in:

  • Development, mechanical and physical characterization and validation of wood products;
  • Design, dimensioning and rehabilitation of wood structures;
  • Glueing of wood products;
  • Analysis of the life cycle of structures and computer programming.

Instituto Politécnico de Leiria

The team of the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria has experience in:

  • Design, development, characterisation and practical benchmarking of electromagnetic barriers using wood with appropriate processing;
  • Experimental evaluation of the electromagnetic performance of CLT structures;
  • Chemical analysis of wood structures after carbonisation.
